BTS (방탄소년단), also known as the Bangtan Boys or Bangtan Sonyeondan. In July 2017, BTS announced that their name would also stand for "Beyond the Scene" as part of their new brand identity. This extended their name to mean "growing youth BTS who is going beyond the realities they are facing, and going forward." This is a seven-member South Korean boy bandformed by Big Hit Entertainment in 2013. The name became a backronym for Beyond the Scene in July 2017. They are known for their large social media presence, BTS were the most retweeted celebrities in the world for 2017 and 2018. The members of BTS are Kim Seok-jin, Min Yoon-gi, Jung Ho-seok, Kim Nam-joon, Park Ji-min, Kim Tae-hyung and their maknae Jeon Jung-kook. The septet co-writes and produces much of their output, to which some media outlets have attributed their success. Their music often features references to literature and to an alternative universe storyline. Some of the recurring themes that appear in their albums include mental health, the troubles of school-age youth, and loss.
